11. 9. 2020

The rent subsidy is one of the state aid measures intended to mitigate the negative economic consequences as a result of the extraordinary measures taken in connection with the prevention of the consequences of the spread of dangerous contagious human disease COVID-19 and to support the economy under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. Further information on changes and state aid can be found neatly processed within our COVID-19 Resouce Hub.

On 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic changed the minimum aid scheme to support the economy in connection with COVID-19 - Rent subsidy - De minimis, as well as an exception from the current scheme, thus expanding the circle of applicants entitled to subsidies, namely also for tenants who are businesses in difficulty. The option to apply for a rent subsidy applies to all sizes of businesses. From the above date, these companies, which were excluded from state aid, can also apply for a rent subsidy.

Micro and small enterprises in difficulty will be subject to the same conditions as other enterprises, medium and large enterprises will be subject to a de minimis scheme, which limits the amount of aid per enterprise to EUR 200,000.

A new option with applying a request is the signing of an electronic application by an authorized person on behalf of the landlord as well as the tenant. Only legal entities or natural persons entrepreneurs should use the possibility of signing an electronic application. The authorized person must have permission to access and have at his disposal the electronic mailbox of the legal entity and the natural person of the entrepreneur for whom the application will be signed.
