Make Your Job Search in Slovakia Successful

Do you have several years of experience but you still cannot find job in Slovakia? Do you want to change your current job? Are you interested in current offers on the job market? Let´s take a look at the actual situation on the domestic market.

The biggest Slovak job portal is Profesia, which has more than 15 000 job offers on its web site profesia.sk. Most of the international employers are visible on the first page as TOP EMPLOYEES and after clicking on their logo, it is possible to see their actual vacancies. Every year Profesia organises the largest job trade fair known as Profesia Days. Everybody can visit the event, normally taking place at the beginning of March in Incheba Expo Arena, where you will be able to meet your potential employers in person.

The first prerequisite for getting a good job is a good CV. Keep in mind that it is the first contact with the company, so it should be interesting for the employer. You should introduce yourself, your education, your previous career, your experiences, your skills or knowledge.

How to do it?

personal data – this part includes your personal information such as your adress, e-mail address, phone number, do not be afraid to add your picture and introduce yourself with a few sentences. Be original, but do not write too much.

education – start with the highest achieved education level, then additional  courses and certificates that are relevant to the position you are applying for.

work experiences – start from the most recent position with the specific name of your position and add a short description of your main responsibilities. Do not write too much, they will ask you more about it at the interview.           

hobbies – it is enough just to name them so it provides a bigger view of your personality.

other information – put in only information that is relevant to the job you apply for.

Before sending you CV, ask a friend to check it. He can find some grammar mistakes or mistakes in your personal data which you did not notice. Please note, that job searching requires time. Do not give up and be patient. Apply only for positions you are really interested in. Get ready for the interview by preparing for it very carefully. It can reflect your motivation, preparation, effort and determination you are willing to put into the work. Find out more information about the company or employer, their product, services, affiliates, international cooperation and so on. It can help you to show your motivation.
